Jesus christ. Deeply troubling that Wetmore, Burroughs and Anderson weren’t all fired after this investigation. They don’t just sound intense, they sound incompetent and cruel.

Thank you for highlighting report findings and providing links. I'm making my way through them and am dismayed. There's certainly room for reflection and humility on the part of the program staff.

This report is FAR WORSE than any reasonable person could have imagined. There is NO PLACE in running for behavior like that. Salazar, for all his accomplishments, and I AM NOT defending his inexcusable behavior either, was excommunicated from the sport, in large part because of his attitude and behavior towards women's bodies who were part of a PROFESSIONAL TEAM. That's right, EVERY WOMAN on that team was being paid, some of them (Cain), in the high six figures. So how the hell does Wetmore, Burroughs, and Anderson still have their jobs???

One could argue, that a partial or full scholarship, in a traditionally non-revenue sport is compensation. But its not, and it shouldn't be treated as such. Second, just because someone is paying you; doesn't mean you have to accept abuse.

Anyone with a functioning brain knows this ridiculous emphasis on weight and body composition is more detrimental to performance than it is helpful. Yes, teams NEED to have a nutritionist to MAKE SURE that athletes are getting the PROPER NUTRITION AND CALORIES TO SUSTAIN THEIR TRAINING and other obligations. What teams DON'T NEED is someone telling an athlete that the reason they didn't achieve their desired performance is because they need to lose ten pounds.

This kind of abuse is rampant in athletics, particularly involving female athletes; not just in running, but other endurance sports at the D1 level. What is it going to take for the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA to start imposing mandates on proper nutrition and penalizing coaches and institutions that break the rules???

If Mark Wetmore actually said that if someone isn't happy here, they should go kill themselves; HE SHOULD BE FIRED IMMEDIATELY AND BANNED FROM COACHING AT ANY LEVEL FOR LIFE!!!! There is no room in today's society for such an ignorant and potentially harmful remark; even in jest.
